Cable Certification
Also called: Fluke test, link certification, test results
Testing every installed cable run with a certification-grade tester against the TIA performance standard, producing a per-link pass/fail record of length, insertion loss, crosstalk, and return loss.
A continuity test proves the wires are connected; certification proves the link will actually carry 1G or 10G with margin. The difference matters because marginal links pass traffic on day one and fail under summer heat, PoE load, or a firmware change months later.
Certification reports are also the only real warranty evidence. Ask for them per port, in the manufacturer's native test format rather than a summary PDF — an installer unwilling to hand those over is telling you something.
