Cloud Migration
Moving applications, data, and infrastructure from on-premises servers to cloud platforms — by lift-and-shift, re-platforming, or replacement with SaaS.
The three paths differ enormously in cost and outcome. Lift-and-shift moves a virtual machine as-is and is fastest but often the most expensive to run; re-platforming adapts the workload to managed services; replacement retires the application in favour of SaaS. Choosing per workload, rather than one strategy for everything, is what keeps cloud bills defensible.
Migrations fail on the unglamorous items: identity, licensing, bandwidth at the site, latency for chatty line-of-business apps, and cutover sequencing for data that changes during the move. A pilot workload with a rehearsed rollback teaches more than any assessment document.
