RMM
Also called: Remote Monitoring and Management
The agent-based platform an IT provider uses to monitor device health, deploy patches, run scripts, and support endpoints remotely at scale.
RMM is what makes proactive support possible: failing drives, full disks, missing patches, and dying batteries surface as alerts before users notice. It also delivers the unglamorous majority of remediation — scripted fixes pushed to hundreds of machines without touching any of them.
It is a powerful tool with a large blast radius, so it deserves scrutiny. RMM access should be MFA-protected with least-privilege roles and audit logging, because an attacker inside an RMM tenant has scripted administrative reach across every managed endpoint.
