Auto-Framing
Also called: speaker tracking, intelligent framing
Camera behaviour that detects participants and adjusts framing automatically — tightening on a group, following an active speaker, or giving each attendee an individual tile.
Auto-framing exists to fix the hybrid asymmetry where remote attendees see a wide, distant table of small faces. Group framing crops to the people present; speaker tracking cuts to whoever is talking; individual framing gives everyone their own tile so remote participants can read expressions.
Behaviour needs tuning per room. Aggressive tracking in a room with a whiteboard and a pacing presenter produces constant re-framing that is worse than a static wide shot. We set framing mode and sensitivity per room type at commissioning and revisit it once the room is in real use.
