Mobile Credential
A door credential held in a phone's wallet or an app and presented over Bluetooth or NFC, replacing a plastic card or fob.
Mobile credentials cut the two costs nobody budgets for: card stock and the administrative churn of issuing and collecting badges. Issuing is an email, revocation is instant, and users are far more likely to notice a missing phone than a missing fob — which shortens the window between loss and revocation.
The trade-offs are licensing and dependency. Most platforms charge per credential per year, and reader firmware must support the technology, so retrofits often mean new readers. Keep a card path enabled in parallel for visitors, contractors, and staff who will not install an app.
